The Night I Decided I Was Finally Done.

Why My Body Staged a Coup to Save My Soul

I remember the silence of 3:00 a.m. It’s a specific kind of silence that can be peaceful and yet far too loud for someone who just wants to disappear into sleep.

For months, I lived in that hour. I would wake up with a sense of anxiety that had no name. Stuck in an overthinking loop.

On the outside, I was "fine." I was the person who seemed to have it all together, the calm within the storm. I was "health-oriented." I ate the right things, I checked the boxes, and I moved through my days with the kind of peace and efficiency that looks like success.

But my body knew the truth. My body had been trying to get my attention for a long time, and because I wasn’t listening to its whispers, it started to scream.

This is a snippet of my story. It’s not a story about a sudden medical miracle; it’s a story that started in the trenches of exhaustion which I’ll label as “the time my body staged a coup to save your soul”.

The Body Never Lies

I have always considered myself a healthy person. I took care of myself - or so I thought. But looking back, I realized I had a basic appreciation for who I was, but I didn’t have love for myself. There is a massive, life-altering difference between the two.

In that season of my life, anything that could grab my attention health-wise did. It started with strange things. My teeth began to ache for no reason. My sinuses were constantly inflamed. I felt like I couldn't get a full, satisfying breath of air into my lungs.

It didn’t make any sense. Why was "whatever could poke its head out" deciding to do so?

I felt like I was being hunted by my own biology.

The extra layer of pain - the kind that truly grinds you down - was the lack of sleep. I would lie there in the dark, exhausted to my marrow, but my nervous system was stuck in "high alert."

I knew I had to get up and be "on" for work the next day, which only made the anxiety worse. I was trapped in the anxiety loop, and I had no idea that what I was experiencing was high levels of stress.

I didn’t even know what the word "anxious" really meant in a clinical sense; I just knew I was suffering.

The Turning Point

They say we only change when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the fear of changing. I had reached that point. I was genuinely "sick and tired of being sick and tired." I wanted a way out, and more importantly, I wanted a way to stay out. I wanted to embrace the richness of a life that I could see others living but felt was just out of my reach.

One evening, in the midst of this unraveling, I devoted time to reflection. I needed an anchor. I came across a scripture that changed the trajectory of my life:

"Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" — Matthew 22:37-40

It then dawned on me, “I don’t love myself”, at least not the way I needed to. If I genuinely loved myself, why was I treating myself like a machine that needed to be driven until the engine gave out?

Why was I neglecting the very vessel I was given to live this life in? Why was everything in me calling for my attention?

At that moment, I made a conscious decision: I was going to learn how to truly love myself. Not the "spa day" kind of love (which I don’t mind), but the deep, radical, cellular kind of love that says, "I hear you, I see you, and I will take care of you."

The Breadcrumbs of Healing

Once I made that decision, it was as if Life started dropping breadcrumbs for me to follow.

It started with a podcast. I don't even remember how I found it, but the host began sharing the power of sitting still. At the time, stillness felt like a threat.

My mind was so loud that sitting still felt like being locked in a room with no way out. But I listened. I began to understand that my healing required a different language - the language of silence.

Then came the most "random" moment of all. I was at the local library, just browsing the aisles, and I saw a Yoga DVD. I wasn't a "yoga person." I didn't own the leggings or the mat. But something told me to take it home.

I popped that DVD into the player in my living room, and as I moved through the gentle poses, I felt something shift. For the first time in years, my breath reached my belly. My jaw loosened. I wasn't "doing" yoga; I was finally inhabitating my own body.

These small steps led me to the world of true love and healing. I discovered that I could actually train my nervous system to drop out of the "Fight or Flight" response and into the "Rest and Digest" state.

I learned that my 3:00 a.m. wake-up calls were simply my body being stuck in a survival loop, and that I had the power to guide it home to safety.

What Does Self-Love Have to Do with Anything?

You might be wondering: What does self-love have to do with my sinuses or my racing heart?

Everything.

When we don't love ourselves, we exist in a state of constant self-judgment. We push ourselves past our limits. We ignore our body’s signals because they are "inconvenient" to our schedules. We treat ourselves like an enemy that needs to be conquered.

That internal conflict is a massive stressor for the nervous system. Healing deep stress & the feelings of anxiety isn't just about breathing techniques (though they help!); it’s about ending the war within yourself. When I started practicing self-love, my body stopped needing to stage a coup.

It realized that I was finally on its side.

My teeth stopped aching. My breath became deep and easy. The 3:00 a.m. heart palpitations faded into peaceful, restorative sleep. I wasn't just "not sick" anymore—I was finally well.

Are You Ready to Write a New Story?

If you are the person who looks put-together on the outside but is quietly unraveling on the inside - I want you to know that there is a way out.

You don't have to wait until your body breaks down completely to start your self-love journey. You don't have to live in a cycle of exhaustion and "what-if" thoughts. There is a richness of life waiting for you, but it requires you to lay down your armor and pick up the tools of self-compassion.

This journey is exactly why I created The Self-Love Blueprint.

I didn't want to just teach people how to meditate; I wanted to provide the exact map I used to navigate my way from "sick and tired" to "ignited and flowing."

This path is designed for the person who is ready to:

  • Understand their nervous system and why it’s stuck in survival mode.

  • Develop a radical practice of self-love that transforms their health from the inside out.

  • Master the tools of stillness like NSDR to ensure they stay out of the overthinking &  loop for good.

This isn't just another coaching program. This is an intimate mentoring journey where we look at the physical, emotional, and spiritual blocks that are keeping you from the life you were "fearfully and wonderfully" made for.

I’ve lived the unraveling, and I’ve lived the healing. I know the way back, and I would be honored to guide you there.

If you are ready to stop the 3:00 a.m. wake-up calls and start living a life of deep, authentic flow, I invite you to apply. Let’s look at your blueprint together and build a foundation of love that can never be shaken.

The night I decided I was finally "done" was the scariest night of my life, but it was also the most important. It was the night I stopped running and started listening.

Your body isn't your enemy - it’s your greatest ally. Listen to what it's telling you today. It might just be calling you home.

Not sure where to start?

Experience the Language of Calm

If you have been living in that restless space where your mind is always three steps ahead of your feet, I want you to know that there is a different way. You don’t have to "fix" your anxiety; you just have to support your biology.

Experience The Beginner's Journey: A 5-Day Yoga Nidra & Guided Meditation Journey.

If you are ready for a deeper dive into regulating your nervous system, I invite you to embark on The Beginner’s Journey, a curated 5-day experience found inside the Wellness Hub within The Calm Collective.

This experience focuses on giving your nervous system a consistent place to land. Over five days, you’ll explore the Foundations of Stillness through 15-20 minute sessions that alternate between:

  • Guided Meditations to ground your awareness.

  • Soothing Yoga Nidra to access that restorative Theta state and tone the vagus nerve.

  • Empowering Affirmations to reshape the narrative of your inner critic.

Whether you are completely new to these practices or looking to deepen your path to mindfulness, this transformative journey is designed to ease you into a sustainable practice of stillness.

Your body is a wise, constant companion that is always seeking its way back to balance.

Every sensation, every flutter of anxiety, and every moment of tension is simply a signal - a way of communicating its needs to you.

When you feel anxious, it’s often just your vagus nerve reaching out, sending a message that it needs a moment of grounded safety.

Next time you feel the spiral start, don't try to solve the problem with more thoughts. Instead, place a hand on your heart, take a long, slow exhale, and remember: you have the master key to quiet already inside you.

Until next time—honor your need for stillness, trust your body’s wisdom, and know that you are enough, just as you are. 💛
